Some of Hatwoman’s wares are available in the online shop to those of you too busy or too far away to come to the bricks-and-mortar shop, although the stock in the two shops may differ.
Most of the headwear we stock is made by hand and frequently by the designer himself or herself. Accordingly, much of our stock consists of one-off pieces and comes only in one size and colour. If a style is available in more than one size, we indicate the different sizes. Otherwise, the pieces are displayed individually, so if there is a style in three colours, it will be shown three times in the online shop. Once a piece has sold out, we will remove it from the online shop. In the interval before we get round to doing so, it will continue to be displayed but you will not be able to click on “Add to Hatbox”.
If you have questions about any pieces, please email. We might be able to show you other pieces by Skype, on appointment, or to email you other images. We can probably also order a piece in another colour or size for you.
We have divided up the stock in the online shop by designer and by three other broad categories: “Everyday and men’s headwear”; “Daytime occasion hats”; and “Headpieces and cocktail hats”. Within each section, the pieces are arranged by their predominant colour in the following order:
- black and white
We have tried to follow the order of colours in the rainbow, but there are lots of headwear colours that aren’t in the rainbow.
Although we stock gloves and some other accessories, we are selling only headwear online.
All our prices are quoted in Hong Kong dollars and purchases in the online shop are billed in Hong Kong dollars. The Hong Kong dollar is currently pegged to, and fluctuates in line with, the US dollar. The peg keeps the Hong Kong dollar in the region of HK$7.8 to US$1. For your convenience, and for indicative purposes only, you may choose to view the prices in another currency. Currency conversions on this site are obtained by feeds from a free online currency conversion site, www.themoneyconverter.com. That site does not guarantee the accuracy of the exchange rates that it uses, which are obtained from multiple sources. A price in a currency other than Hong Kong dollars viewed on our website is likely to differ from the amount eventually charged to you in such currency by your credit card company or by Paypal.
Taxes and Customs
There is no sales tax in Hong Kong but taxes may be payable on import of purchases in the Hatwoman online shop into other territories. We will insure shipments of purchases for the full purchase price and will declare this amount in the shipping documentation. Please be aware that a purchase in the Hatwoman online shop may make you liable for import or customs duties or value added or other taxes in your territory, for which we are not responsible, and that customs procedures could delay your receipt of a purchase. Please ensure, when selecting a piece in the online shop, that you are legally able to import all of the elements of the piece, such as feathers, into your territory.
We expect to despatch purchases in the online shop within three working days. We have a reliable postal service in Hong Kong and post purchases in the online shop by “Speedpost” airmail, free of charge. There are, however, size limits on posting parcels and for certain countries, our extra large hatbox size exceeds the limit that can be sent by Speedpost. Items sent by Speedpost should reach most destinations within one week. If Speedpost is unavailable for your order, or you would like us to use a courier service, we will send your purchase by DHL. The DHL charges are volume (rather than weight) based and vary according to the size of the hatbox required and your territory. Items sent by DHL should reach most destinations within a few days. The charges range from, for example, HK$340 to courier a small hatbox to Singapore, to HK$8,133 to courier an extra large hatbox to Brazil.
Speedpost is not available for Hong Kong addresses so instead of Speedpost we will use the Hongkong Post parcel service for orders within Hong Kong.
If you wish to return goods to us for a refund or exchange, the goods cannot be used or worn. We will make a refund to you through Paypal’s payment system, or subject to mutual agreement, exchange the goods, provided:
- you have emailed us at email@example.com not later than five days after receiving the goods, giving your reasons for the return
- the goods reach us in their original condition with any labels intact and
- not later than seven days after receiving the goods you have sent them at your expense to Hatwoman, Shop 209, Man Yee Arcade, 68 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong (Telephone: +852 2167 8337) by express airmail or a courier service, in either case with signed-for delivery.
We have no intention to use information about customers collected through the online shop other than to facilitate the making of orders through the online shop and the fulfillment of such orders.
